How to care for dental implants
MG Dental Clinic

Everyday care
A dental implant replaces the root of a missing tooth, and a crown is placed on top of it. The implant itself cannot decay, but the gum and bone around it can become inflamed if they are not cleaned well.
That is why the area around an implant should be cleaned every day as carefully as natural teeth. A soft brush, floss or interdental brushes, and, if needed, a water flosser help remove plaque around the crown and gum.
Regular check-ups
After an implant is placed, it is good to come for check-ups at the interval your dentist recommends. At these visits we check the gum, the bite, and the condition of the crown, and do professional cleaning if needed.
Pay attention if you notice bleeding, swelling, or discomfort around the implant, or if your bite feels different. In that case it is better not to wait for the next planned visit, but to call the clinic.
