What the microscope changes
MG Dental Clinic

Why we use it
The microscope enlarges the field we work in when the detail is small. That matters most in root treatment, where the openings are narrow and easy to miss with the eye alone. The instrument does not treat by itself. It only makes the picture clearer for the dentist.
Not every visit uses the microscope. We switch it on when the task asks for it, for example a repeat treatment or a search for a narrow canal. If it is not needed, we leave it off so the visit is not longer without a reason.
What you may notice
During treatment the microscope sits above the chair. You lie down as you would for an ordinary visit. We may move more slowly because we are looking through the instrument, not because something has gone wrong.
A clearer picture helps us remove less of the healthy part of the tooth when that is possible. We do not promise that every tooth can be kept. If keeping it is not reasonable, we say so.
After the visit we explain what we saw and what the next step would be, if there is one. When we have a picture from the microscope, we can show it to you on the screen.
